First steps on a long journey

I will find strength in weakness
Grace in despair
Beauty in the commonplace
New aspects of normality through each trial that comes
For my loved one and myself.

I will journey through darkness and never give up

Help my patient endure when endurance is all there is

Provide love, patience and understanding

I will not be perfect
But I will allow myself my own humanity
Even as I struggle, each day to be strong.
Even as I wake each morning saying the same prayer;
God, please give me the strength to get through this day.

    Thank you Denise. The artwork isn’t mine. I don’t have the time to create anything right now. So I’ve used things I found around the Internet. Unfortunately I don’t have the artists names, so I haven’t been able to give them the proper attribution.

    I am always touched when I come upon a blog dedicated to cancer. My blog, Nae’s Nest, “Dancing With Cancer” and other writings…..well, obviously it is too. First Steps On A Long Journey touches me because, as a current cancer fighter, I have quickly discovered, I now see the world with new eyes. The first two lines in your poem, tell me that you do also.
    My dream is to be published. I have always wanted to be a writer. I never had the time to write, until ironically, I was diagnosed with cancer two years ago. Now, I feel “rushed” to be published. I am 45 years old and I need to leave stories about “ME” for my future grandchildren to know. I can’t stand the thought of them never knowing me. Sorry, to ramble….it’s the writer in me.

      Thank you for taking the time to visit and comment on my blog. I’m sorry it’s taken me so long to respond. I was touched when I first read your message. You’re not rambling. I think you said is interesting and I’m honored that you felt comfortable to share part of your story with me.
